The Green Heart Project is Going Back to School!

The Green Heart Project is gearing up for its 10th year of Farm to School programs in Charleston, and we need your help! We need to raise $25,000 to prepare our school gardens, purchase program supplies, and hire and train our seasonal staff.

Story

In now my second year as Executive Director of the Green Heart Project, I am more excited than ever about our Farm to School programs, and the positive impact they can make on students. We are once again partnering with 6 schools this year in Charleston, while working with 2 more schools through training and support, and planning to bring on 4 more partners by the end of the year!

With big growth comes the need for big support, which is where I am hoping you will come in. Green Heart needs to raise $25,000 by September 9 to kick off its school partnerships, and I am asking my friends and family to help me to raise $1,000 of that total. Will you join me?

The funds will be used to:

1) Prepare school gardens, including soil, mulch, plants, and seeds

2) Purchase program supplies, including culinary kits for cooking lessons, and garden kits featuring hand trowels, gardening gloves, and magnifying glasses for garden lessons.

3) Hire and train seasonal staff. Green Heart's dedicated Garden Educators lead students and volunteers in hands-on learning every week in partner schools.

Together, we can guarantee hands-on, outdoor learning experiences around healthy food for 1,200 students in our city! Learn more about the Green Heart Project at http://www.greenheartsc.org
