Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know my brother has recently lost his battle with Metastatic Malignant Melanoma - during the final months he was cared for by the Heart of Kent Hospice.
In memory of Ben I thought it would be nice to raise money for the hospice to help other who find themselves in a similar situation. The hospice provides free specialist end of life care to people facing the challenge of a life-limiting illness, and support for their families. More information can be found here: https://www.hokh.org/
I will be racing the following:
July 17th: Race for life 10k (Cambridge) - Completed 1.03.33
Aug 7th: Run Norwich 10k (Norwich) - Completed 1.01.46
Sep 11th: Greater Cambridge 10k (Cambridge) - completed 1.01.22
Oct 16th: Town and Gown 10k (Cambridge) - completed 0.56.05
Nov 6th: Bonfire Burn 10k (Histon) - completed 0.58.26
Dec 27th: Waterside 10k Road Race (Grafham Water - Huntingdon) - completed in just over an hour
Jan 2nd: Wymondham AC New Years 10K - completed - it was cold and tough but I finished (slowly)
10Apr17 Update on races: I had a tough few months and didn't do much running, but I am determined to finish the 10x10k by 30th May and hit my fundraising targets. So I have added the following 3 events:
Apr 23rd Childerley Estate 10km - completed 1.04.00
May 7th: Wings for life (Cambridge) - I will have to finish 10k in under 1hr10mins to avoid being caught
May 21st: Wimpole 10km
Any contribution will help me hit (and hopefully smash) my target will be gratefully received by the hospice. It costs around £5000 a day to run this service, and it is mostly funded by the community. Below is an idea of how your contribution could help.
£8 could pay for a patient attending Day Therapy to receive a nutritious meal enhancing wellbeing
£25 could keep a patient mobile and independent by providing an occupational therapy session
£50 could help patients pass on special memories by providing a memory box
£80 could help provide a bereavement counselling session for two children
£500 could sponsor the cost of a bed in the Inpatient Unit for one day to allow a patient to receive specialist care and support
£1,000 could provide a syringe driver: a small and mobile piece of equipment to control and safely administer pain relief medication to help improve the comfort levels of a patient
