Story
** Update: The challenge has increased! I have an IT band injury (thing up the side of your leg!) so training plan is out the window as is any attempts at a particular time! The new goal: get around and still be alive at the end... ! Come and cheer me along or if you can spare a few quid and help me raise some money and make this all worthwhile, I'd be super grateful. It's not a race, but a (half) marathon right?
The story....
Last year my extraordinary daughter was identified autistic and dyspraxic aged 9. After three attempts I secured her an EHCP (a legal plan) and with that an alternative school outside our local authority. I’d be lying if I said this had been easy! In fact it’s been one of life’s biggest accomplishments and has made a huge difference to Izzy's life and future (big thanks to her Dad for his contributions to this).
Amaze have helped me many times over many years to navigate the complex education and healthcare systems and processes required to achieve these things. I would be so grateful if you could help me raise money to support them in their work.
The neurodiversity revolution is slowly happening, particularly for women and girls who suffer from a lack of gender-specific research and awareness. Yet I feel grateful for the opportunity to become a powerful voice within this.
I've never run a half marathon or even really wanted to! The furthest I have run is 10k 10 years ago, once! However, this is such an important cause and I want to show my kids they can do anything they put their mind to.
I'm starting from couch to 5k in November 2022 so it's going to be a steep learning curve but I'm ready for it!
Thanks in advance for any money you can contribute, no amount is too little, 'all things are made from small things'.

Amaze is launching a fundraising campaign for our 25th anniversary to help more disabled young people get the specialist careers support they need to succeed and thrive. Disabled young people share the same career aspirations as other young people, but often struggle to access mainstream careers support and leave school or college with little or no work skills and limited knowledge about the range of support and employment options available to them. Our workshops and groups will help disabled young people struggling with their mental health and feeling anxious about their futures. We'll give them the chance to try out creative activities, meet other young people, find out about education and volunteering routes into specific industries and get information and practical support finding and applying for jobs.We know everyone is financially stretched right now, but even a small amount could help us deliver this programme aimed at boosting young peoples confidence. Thank you.
