Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Running a marathon was never really something I had ever considered. In fact, running in general was never something that had particularly appealed to me! Until I met Marika.
I met Marika through work and I was blown away by her passion for life. She had been living with breast cancer since her diagnosis in 2016 and throughout that time continued to work, run and enjoy her life to the full. Her refusal to give in to that awful disease was the most inspiring thing to witness. It inspired me to start running. If she could run marathons during chemotherapy treatment then I had no excuse not to try!
I very quickly realised that I wanted to try and do something to help stop this awful disease in the future. I may not be able to cure cancer but I can help fight it! And so came the idea to apply for the marathon and raise money for cancer research. Marika told me about this charity she had been fundraising for, The Institute of Cancer Research, and the amazing work they do in the fight against cancer. Marika was the driving force that put me on this running journey and the inspiration behind me raising money and so it was only fitting that I should run for her charity.
I have been lucky enough to be accepted for a charity place and so, on 28 April 2019, I will be running the London Marathon as part of Team ICR. The Institute of Cancer Research is one of the worlds most influential cancer research institutes and I am honoured to be a part of their vision to help fight cancer.
