Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’ve started this page as a way of fundraising for the M.E Association.
I’ve had M.E. (myalgic encephalomyelitis) for 8 years and Fibromyalgia
for the past 4 years. M.E. isn't a very widely acknowledge disability and
lacks funding for research.
This debilitating disability has majorly affected my day to day life.
At just the age of eleven I became unable to stay awake for more than a
few hours, in extreme pain that no amount of medication would even
begin to ease it. I take morphine and that only just begins to touch the
pain. I can't stand to be touched, my skin is so sensitive and painful.
I often cant stand clothes so I basically live in my pyjamas. There were
times I would sleep all day without waking up. (My longest ever sleep on
record is 21 hours, not waking once). To some this sounds great, but it's
really not. It’s the kind of sleep that makes you seem almost unconscious
and at times my mums worried I've not been breathing. At the moment I
wake up about 9 o’clock in a morning and by 10.30 I need to go back to
sleep. The fatigue is so physically demanding, I don't do a lot with my life.
I suffer severe headaches, which often turn into migraines. I cant always
stand light so have to wear my sunglasses and keep my bedroom
curtains shut. I attended school and college part time and have since
quickly deteriorated so am house bound a lot of the time. And now
developing further complications with M.E.
Due to my love of horses, I thought I would put my BTEC in Fashion into
use and customise head collars, with the aim to donate a portion of each
to the M.E. Association.
It means a great deal to those who have supported me already and I hope
this is as successful as I'd hope.
Thank you xx

The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.
