Story

Hello! Tere! हैलो! Добры дзень! السلام عليكم! Olá! Поздрав! 안녕하세요Pozdrav! வணக்கம்こんにちはHej!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. From April I will be volunteering in Palestine for three months as part of the International Citizen Service scheme, supported by the Department for International Development (DFID). I will be working on behalf of the charity International Service, and will be involved in one of three projects (to be decided soon).

Barrier Monitoring Unit (BMU), established by UNRWA in 2004, documents the impact that the West Bank Barrier has on Palestinian communities, and advocates for Palestinian rights - with a particular focus on refugees.

Sharek Youth Forum, which works to reduce youth unemployment in the West Bank by supporting young people and children in their personal growth and development, enabling them to take a leadership role in their communities.

Right to Education Campaign (R2E), a campaign led by Birzeit University which focuses on highlighting the physical barriers to higher education for Palestinians, such as checkpoints, and immigration controls, helping them to become empowered to speak out.

Before I go I am trying to raise £800 to support International Service in continuing their work, enabling young people from the UK and from overseas developing countries to work on placements that that will make a lasting difference. Since 1953 they have sent development workers to South America, Africa and the Middle East. For more information on the kind of work they do, and the current projects, look at http://www.internationalservice.org.uk/work_with_us/our_ics_projects/default.html

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
