Hello Friends and Family,
During the past year, through the stress and tumult of moving from New York back to my childhood home, I started running. Never have I considered myself a 'runner' or thought I could run more than a couple miles at one time but to my surprise, I really started to love it. Last May, after training with some of my closest friends, I completed my first half marathon. Reaching this goal was hard - physically and mentally, but it was also really exciting, and I want to do it again! In October, a week after my fortieth birthday, I am headed to London to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
As thrilled as I am to have the opportunity to realize this goal, I am equally thrilled that this adventure has connected me with the British organization, Beyond Autism.
Beyond Autism strives to ensure an education for people with autism that empowers choice, independence, and opportunity - with a focus on providing individualized, meaningful education through data driven practices. These are the same goals that have driven my career for the past 16 years in New York. I am honored to be running this race on behalf of Beyond Autism, a partner in person-centered and science-based education, across the pond.
As my friends and family, I am asking you to please help me in supporting Beyond Autism during this Half Marathon fundraiser. Their work is invaluable to the community they serve. Your support, in any form, means the world to me.
Thank you! Jess
