Earlier this year, our lives were turned upside down as Mum unexpectedly got sepsis after a hockey injury. The infection wasn't picked up on until almost too late. Mum was battling sepsis for almost a month in hospital. Thankfully, she pulled through after 3 operations and weeks of powerful antibiotics with significant side effects. The hardest battle has been mental, and we are incredibly lucky to come out of this as a whole family. 

However, it often does not end up this way and thousands of people die unnecessarily through sepsis every year. The UK Sepsis Trust helps to raise awareness and research around sepsis and helps those readjust to life after.
