Story
Just a little backstory 📖
This is the perfect challenge for me 🎉 not only do I have crafting running through my veins but I can hopefully raise some money for Dementia UK. The one who taught me all I know and encouraged my passion was my Nanna 👵. Nanna was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia 5 years before she passed (Christmas Eve 2016) 💔 When I was a kid I would spend weekends with her teaching me how to do different stitches, making fabric boxes, beading and so much more 🎨🧵🪡🖼. We used to love going to craft shows together and I would always be amazed at the wonderful things people made. Even towards the end Nanna was still doing crafts.
I am doing this challenge with my daughter (Chloe, who is 6) she has the craft bug too which I intend to nourish 😜 I wouldn't say I'm any good but I enjoy it and it really helps with my mental health which is always a bonus 😊
I'm taking on the June Crafting Challenge to support families facing dementia. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
