Story
On Saturday 15 July our team will be taking part in the Jersey annual 12 hour football marathon fundraising event in aid of Tackle Africa
Each player is expected to run 40km throughout the day (nearly 25 miles, roughly same as a marathon) whilst playing football competitively against other teams
Tackle Africa is a charity whose aim is to provide young underprivileged African people with HIV and SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) support through football coaching
Football marathons such as this one are unique fundraising events used by Tackle Africa to help fund their football coaching programmes in Africa. These programmes are made up of interactive football drills, delivered by trained coaches, they contain sexual health messages that unfold as young people participate in the programme activities
This has a significant positive impact on young people's decision making and their behaviour, limiting the impact of HIV within their communities and as a result helps prevent the virus from taking more lives
All donations big or small go a long way and can quite literally be a matter of life or death so please be generous. Feel free to come up to Les Quennevais playing fields to support us on 15 July :)
