Thanks again everyone
Dear all,
Thankyou so much to everyone who has donated to date. A special thankyou Tuxford School and Bo Haywood for their support over the last 8 weeks. Your continued support has raised over £746.88.
The top 5 donating forms were;
11SJ - Miss Johnson - £91.94
8RM - Mr Macpherson - £71.01
11MT - Miss Tivey - £70.32
8NB - Mr Brightwell - £60.64
11JR - Mr Read - £57.82
This is a huge achievement and i hope that this continues to other causes in the future, there are many more unfortunate than us in the world, and small amounts when donated by large numbers really do add up as has been demonstrated here.
Thankyou again.
I am so please i have got above 3850 (after gift aid), i didnt realise comic relief was going to take everyones money!.
I just wanted to put a few words about my progress to date, to show you im serious, and to detail how hard this will be.
In the last 6 months for training, i have done over a marathon a month, ran from Brighton to London (56 miles) in 8 hours, with my full race weight on my back (10kgs) covered 100's and 100's of miles training, got through 6 pairs of trainers, personally purchased over 500 pounds worth of kit to support me during my run, and to ensure i dont get lost, covered more than 200 miles in a full sweat suit, and probably sacrificed everyone of my toes!.
I have recently got tendonitus from doing so much running, so just as my training should be picking up i have to slow down, but this is a challenge that will not defeat me.
I will be making a video blog and ill post it on Youtube, to show you what i am doing for your money, and to demonstrate the pain i am going through. Hopefully it will inspire those runners amongst you to do it next year.
The Namibian Ultramarathon is one of the most difficult ultramarathons in the world due to the intense heat and number of miles covered in 24 hours, it is 3 Full Marathons (126km) in 24hrs.
The Average Day time temperature - 45 Degrees and the Average Night time temperature - -5 Degrees, so i have to carry all the gear for both environments, as well as the food and energy to get me through. In terrain and an environment as harsh as that the human body burns approximatley 120kcal an hour, so will burn over 20,000 calories during this run.
I will be running it for CLIC sargent, the leading childrens cancer charity. This is a very difficult time for those not able to be at home during christmas, and CLIC sargent is the only charity offering support for the children and their familys during this time.
Please donate, every penny will go to Clic Sargent, this will be an extremely difficult challenge, but one for a worthwhile cause.
The Race date is 8-15th April 2009 in the Namibian Desert in Africa, this is one of the most hostile places on earth with day time temperatures over 45 degrees. The route travels along the messum Crater, and down skeleton coast, a place renowned for shipwrecks and fatalities of their crew due the hostile environment.
I have donated 700 pounds to start you off!
