Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for Turning Point, a charity who support people with mental health issues and substance abuse problems - two causes very close to my heart. Without the good work done by charities like Turning Point people near and dear to me would probably not be here today. Sadly, too many people from my past who didn't realise there are people who can help them are no longer with us. I'm walking at least 60km, hopefully 60 miles, cycling 60 miles from Oxford to Malvern, and running 60km in a week to try and say a small, inadequate, thank you to the people who helped me, so that I had the chance to reach 60 years of age.

Part One: Walking 60k
Okay - so I owe you all 10k for this part of the challenge, but walking 50k along the Ceredigion Way on the Welsh was 'challenging@ to say the least. A lot of walking down valleys, only to find out you have to walk up the other side. Now I know how Welsh Sheep feel. I will walk the remaining 10k on the Malvern Hills once I can get together with my buddies Tim and Nick - aka the Desperate Dans.
Part Two: Cycling 60 miles.
A nice ride from Oxford to Great Malvern with my good friend Laurence, stopping off for a cream tea in Bourton on the Water, which was roughly half way. Lucky we stopped as there was a nightmarish long hill to ride up, though at the top was the most wonderful field of poppies. We reached Malvern with 63 miles on the clock, to be faced with the long ride up to Belle Vue Terrace and the Elgar Statue. My bum has entered a formal letter of protest, but the challenge is done.
Part Three: Running 60k in a week
So, the final part is complete - I have run my 60k in a week, and to hell with my 60-year-old knees. I was working a 9-7 shift, so I got up at 5:45 (ahhhhhh) and ran the 13k into work. On the plus side, this meant I was running downhill from Malvern to Worcester. On the negative side, the 1.5k uphill section into Powick village is steeper and longer than it looks when you are in a car. Every morning when I got out of bed my legs would say 'You have got to be kidding me' but once you get warmed up they give up complaining and get back to working.
Thanks to everyone who has given money
