Great Knaresborough Bed Race · 8 June 2013

We support people in the Harrogate district to live with terminal illness & bereavement

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race is an annual event now in its 50th year. Ninety teams of six runners push a bed and its passenger for 2.5 miles around the main tourist areas of Knaresborough ending with a swim across the River Nidd.

For the faster teams the race is extremely competetive demanding fitness, speed and the ability to suffer! This all day event attracts around 25,000 spectators.

The Half Moon free house is one of Knaresborough's most popular pubs and the team consists of the landlord, Max Harrison and 6 customers who form the runners and the event marshall.  2015 is the third year the team has entered. In 2013 we won the Fastest New Team award and in 2014 finished in a creditable 10th place. The theme this year is 50 years of polular culture and we are decorating the bed and ourselves as characters from 50 years of Bond ... James Bond .
