Story
I will be running the Oxford Half Marathon on October 17, 2021 and raising funds for Headway Oxfordshire in memory of my father-in-law, Francis Carnwath, who passed away last year. Francis suffered life-changing injuries after a fall, and we saw first hand the support and advice that Headway can offer.
This will be a big ask for me: I've chosen to run as a way to get fit, and I've gradually been increasing my distance: I ran the Oxford 10k earlier this year. But a half marathon is rather more than that, and I haven't run that far since I was 16 (which, let's face it, is effectively a different life now).
Headway Oxfordshire is a charity that supports people affected by acquired brain injury, which has been as a result of a brain injury such as a stroke, tumour, haemorrhage or disease, as well as traumatic brain injury resulting from a road traffic accident, fall or sporting injury. Our mission is to improve life after brain injury and to raise awareness of brain injury. Our centre in Kennington provides rehabilitation activities. We also provide 1-1 community support that help support individuals integrate back into everyday community life.
