Story
I am raising money in aid of Children with Cancer UK.
This charity got me a place in last years London Marathon and this year and I want to raise more money for them. Why this charity? A friend at work lost her youngest son, Tommy, 4 years ago. He had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) a rare and aggressive form of cancer – and he died just 2 weeks after he was diagnosed. Tommys mum and dad, siblings and friends have raised over £50,000 for the charity since he died and encourage anyone they can to join their cause – to try and spare another family this pain.
We all hear amazing stories about the survival rates for
cancer these days and its fabulous – but childhood cancers are different and harder on the kids, as are the treatments. The survival rate for AML M7, which Tommy had hasn’t changed for 40 years. That’s not OK. If you can, please do put something into Team Tommys pot. His family would be so very grateful.
