Story
Last year, one of my best friends Mark was diagnosed with cancer - things went downhill pretty quickly. This photo from 2019 (Mark's on the left, Lee, his husband, is in the middle) is one of the last times I actually saw him in person.
Mark spent his final days at Isabel Hospice and he was amazed by the place. He was made to feel extremely comfortable and every effort was made to allow visits from family even as restrictions were changing in the UK. In one of his last WhatsApp messages to me he asked if I could use my marathon place to raise money for the hospice.
So, on 2 October 2022, I will be running the London Marathon. If you would like to sponsor me, I have it on good authority that money raised will be greatly appreciated and well used. Or even if you just want to cheer me on, in person or from afar, that is welcome too! I can tell you that training in Hong Kong over the summer is not the most pleasant of experiences!
Isabel Hospice provides palliative support to the 370,000 people who live in eastern Hertfordshire. Hospice care is about helping people to live well for as long as possible and have a good death in the place of their choice when the time comes. Without your help, we could not make this possible for our patients and their families. Each year we care for approx 2,000 people but we know there are even more people that need our help.
