The English Channel · 15 September 2014

1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' alcohol problems. They are often frightened and isolated, with no one to turn to for help. Nacoa responds by providing a free, confidential telephone, 1-2-1 chat and email helpline.

Story

I swam the English Channel!!

On Friday 19th Sept 2014 & it took me 16 hours 25 mins.

This was an enormous challenge for a non sporty person like me. I have always loved swimming and have a suitable build for cold water swimming.
Finally
after years of battling with booze, in 2010 I started outdoor swimming and in 2012 I swam 10k down the river Dart, last year I swam the length of Windermere. This year its super-size time!

My chosen charity is NACOA  National Association of Children of Alcoholics, among other things it provides a friendly ear and gives confidential support and hope to children of all ages whose lives are or have been affected by an alcohol dependent parent. The organisation is operated by volunteers and they need money for administration and to raise awareness.

Please follow this link to see how wonderful they really are:

All the money raised will go directly to NACOA. I have personally paid for the pilot and boat who will accompany me across the channel.

If you can please support me in my swim and help raise awareness for children from all walks of life who often suffer in silence.
