Timperley ABC, located in the community centre on the Broomwood estate, has been keeping kids off the streets for the past seven years, but theres now a danger that young people will be turned away if the club cant raise the extra funds necessary for an extension.
Head coach Mark Davidson explained: Its fantastic to see so many kids desperate to come and train, but we need a bigger place and better facilities to accommodate them. More and more boys and girls are keen to learn how to box or just get fit.
Many young people first enter a boxing gym with dreams of scaling the heights in the sport,Mark believes anti-social behaviour is a major factor for many of those keen on learning how to box. Ive had loads of worried parents calling me and asking if their kids can come to the gym because theyve been mugged or bullied. Its all about confidence. So far, the club has raised an astonishing £350,000, but that still leave a shortfall of around £50,000 to get the project over the line
