YMCANS - "We develop young people, they develop their world".
I am running the 2018 London Marathon so if you turn on BBC One at 11am Sunday 22nd April you'll see me either faint and black out or pulling off that infamous Paula Radcliffe moment from the 2005 London Marathon. Anyway....
Thanks for your support. See below for a little bit about me and YMCA.
I am running the marathon to raise funds on behalf of YMCA North Staffordshire and YMCA England & Wales. YMCA has played a huge part in my life, it is where I started volunteering at the age of 16 and NINE years later I am still there. My roles include YMCA Youth Ambassador and working in the Community & Activities Engagement Team.
Through the support of YMCA, I have developed skills and engaged in many different opportunities that have helped grow a huge personal passion to advocate for young people who are facing social injustices. YMCA is best placed to empower young people. YMCAs share a common goal to create supportive, inclusive and energising communities where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.
At YMCANS in Stoke, we have 117 beds that provide a safe, secure and supported accommodation for vulnerable young people. Nationally, every year we provide that 'home' to over 18,000 young people experiencing homelessness.
Each year we help the following amounts of people:
105,000 provided with support and advice; 230,000 children, young people and parents supported to enhance their family unit; 125,000 people engaged in physical health and wellbeing activities; 68,000 people engaged in education and training, gaining necessary skills to help them thrive.
Your donations truly help YMCA and the young people it serves.
