Story
I'm jazzing up my hair to come out in sympathy with Jeannette who hasn't got any. Jeannette is my son Rhydderch's partner. He hasn't got any either, but that's deliberate. Jeannette said she is going to go pink when it grows back. So I thought fair enough, I'll go raspberry; it's been really white for a couple of years now. It says on the box "Electrifying Raspberry Rebel" - that sounds cool - I can be a raspberry rebel jazz pianist. Should look OK on the bandstand under the disco lights. Jazz Hair got its first outing at Brecon's Jazz In The Bar Tuesday 15th October 2013 which brought smiles to a packed audience. Not so good in daylight on the street though: "look at that old pensioner trying to look 18 silly old sod".
Sorry mam! I never did wear those lace gloves and pretty frocks did I? Cancer got you too, and pa. They loved their music. Clarence Williams wrote Red Haired Mama Blues in 1921, I'll have to track it down.
Cancer got my brother John as well in 2006, a great loss to the drum scene. So I guess we can all do our little bit to help those gals and guys working away in the labs to find out how those little cancercell bastards replicate in the first place. So, small change or fat wads, whatever you can spare, will be welcomed by Cancer Research Wales. And a big thank you from me. Jen
ps: Rhydd had his bum photographed by a colleague in work for her fundraising calendar - she's got cancer too. Rhydd's run loads of marathons and 10Ks for Jeannette.
