Story
Ten Marathons and an Ironman
The long list of challenges began in October with the Devon Marathon Championships at the Dartmoor Vale Marathon. From then onwards it's at least a marathon a month until the UK Ironman events start in June, with a few other events along the way...
November was the start of the Endurancelife 7x7x7: 7 marathons, 7 months, 7 spectacular (and hilly) coastal locations. UPDATE May 09: 7x7x7 challenge NAILED! Amazing but so tough - from staying (sort of) injury and illness free to getting to each event to actually making it round. Through this series I've met so many brilliant people - new friends for life. They are fantastic races - stunning courses, clockwork organisation, all in all a bit of a one-off experience.
April is Flora London Marathon month, also the British Universities Marathon Championships. Finished in 3:26 - not the PB I was hoping for but a great weekend and so many people! It was also really good to meet the guys from the Brain Research Trust at the finish :o)
The summer kicks off with the UK Ironman 70.3 in June and an early morning swim in Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor. UPDATE June 09: UK 70.3 completed in a time of 5hrs 52mins placing me 3rd in my category and 9th age-group woman. Over 1.5hrs quicker than last year! Loved every minute of it and lots of valuable experience gained for Ironman in August.
The Nello annual charity century cycle challenge is next - join in if you're about!
August is the full distance UK Ironman, this year being held in sunny Bolton - a 2.4 mile open water swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 miles of running to finish.
Last, but by no means least, the Endurancelife Coast to Coast in September is a 140 mile adventure across the beautiful county of Devon to be swum, biked and run non-stop: a fitting finale to my 12 months of challenges...
