Story
In June this year Sheffield Mum Jenny Walker was diagnosed with
Stage 4 bowel cancer. A mum to three young girls, Nia (6), Cora (4) and Beth (1) this news was a shocking blow to her whole family. Sadly, Jenny passed away on the 7th November.
As a close friend of Thornbridge Brewery, founders Simon Webster and Jim Harrison felt compelled to offer their support with her ongoing fundraising efforts for the charity, Weston Park Cancer Charity. The aggressive nature of the disease means it has failed to respond to treatment meaning she had a limited time left.
Despite her devastating diagnosis Jenny and her family have used the time to fundraise an enormous amount for charity and raise awareness of Bowel Cancer. With this in mind and as a way to leave a legacy for her children Simon and Jim decided that Jen deserved a chance to take the place of their flagship beer for a day. The idea was born and ‘Jaipur’ is to be renamed ‘JenPour’ on Friday 9th November. Not only this, but all proceeds from sales of ‘JenPour’ on the 9th November in Thornbridge pubs will then be donated to local Sheffield Cancer charity Weston Park Hospital.
Weston Park Cancer Charity raises around £2million each year to improve the lives of people living with cancer. Weston Park Hospital is the region’s only specialist cancer hospital, providing care for thousands of patients across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire. Please donate so we can continue supporting this local charity.
For every donation made to this page, we will be entering you into our charity raffle. This is running throughout the month of November so any donations made up until Tuesday 27th November will be added to the draw but this doesn't mean the donations have to stop there! If you also wanted to buy more raffle tickets to raise money for the cause, tickets can be purchased from all Thornbridge and Brewkitchen venues.
The raffle will be drawn at The Brewery’s Taproom social, on Wednesday 28th November. Winners will be contacted.
