I made it! I arrived in Lands End at lunchtime on Sunday 16th May to a wonderful welcoming committee... thanks to Mum, Dad, Gerry, Margaret, Liz, Richard, Nicky, Duane, Rebecca, James, Joshua, Tim, Fiona, Imogen and Roxy for cheering me in, showering me in streamers and plying me with champagne!
As expected my three weeks was quite an adventure with many, many ups and downs – physically and mentally! The weather was amazing, mostly dry and sunny, just a few odd days with some rain and luckily only a couple of days into the dreaded head wind. Pete's bike was also brilliant, it looked after me very well, got me up some very steep hills, carried my stupidly heavy panniers and not one puncture in 1126 miles.
A huge and massive thank you for sponsoring me – it really did spur me on when the hills were getting me down and I was feeling more tired than I've ever felt in my life. But all well worth it to get nearly £3000 for Cancer Research. Thank you. x
I'm cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End! Eeeeeeeek! And as I'm doing the hard bit – I was hoping you guys would do the easy bit and please sponsor me so I can raise some cash for Cancer Research UK.
This is a challenge that has long been on my list of 'things to do at some point in my life'. Well this time has come, and as life goes on I'm constantly and sadly reminded that cancer affects so many people, including many friends of mine. Most recently my family and I lost a friend who was a keen cyclist and had already made some incredible journeys on his bike, but I know that John O'Groats to Lands End was also on his list of things to do too. I am honoured to be riding his bicycle for my 1000 mile adventure which I start on the 24th April and hope to finish in Lands End on the 15th May 2010.
Please help me reach my target of £1000 for Cancer Research UK – so as I'm pedaling away, I can know that every single mile is worth £1!
Thank you. Jenny
