Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!

As many of you will already know, in January of this year my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinsonian Dementia. Needless to say this year has been somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster and I wanted to do something to help - so I have decided to jump out of a plane!

My Dad was initially diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back in 2001 and since then has dealt with his illness with huge amounts of courage, bravery and dignity. Even when times have been very tough his resolve has been incredible. Like anyone with Parkinson’s Disease he has good days and bad days so we take life as it comes and thankfully he seems to be doing ok a lot of the time.

I’m not sure I ever dealt with his first diagnosis when I was 17 so last October when things were particularly tough I decided to do something and that’s when the idea came about to do a Skydive. Clearly I needed to wait until the weather was better (what a joke!) so booked it for August. This jump is for him.

When you meet me I don’t think you’ll ever describe me sporty, athletic or an adrenaline junkie. In fact I’m most likely to have a pint of Stella in one hand, eating a curry with the other whilst simultaneously reading Heat magazine and watching some form of reality TV. Despite this I am looking forward to doing the jump and hopefully making a small difference.

I have decided that the money raised will go towards my Mum & Dad’s local Parkinson’s Support Group. My parents joined the Waltham Forest Branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society about two years ago and it has given them back a life.

As well as making lots of friends who truly understand about living with this disease, the  club has been campaigning for a specialist Parkinson’s Disease Nurse for Waltham Forest, gives support to the Carers, like my mum, who selflessly dedicate their lives to helping their loved ones, and helps promote awareness of Parkinson’s and so much more. More than I could explain on here. The club is 100 per cent reliant on their own fundraising so any money raised from this jump will be greatly appreciated.

I really hope that you will help me to support the Waltham Forest Branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society and if you do sponsor me I may well even sing you a little song…

Jenny xx
