Story
I am thankful firstly to God and secondly to the NHS that I am alive, and to the support of my family through it all.
So in the Year that I was 60, 2022 I set myself a series of Challenges, all of which I completed and mostly enjoyed.
I managed The Grizzly Cub Challenge, Sea kayaked the Jurassic Coast, learned to front crawl and managed a whole length (100m) of Jesus Green Lido, The MK Marathon, Yorkshire Ultra Marathon, swam 5K at Box End, ran the Great North and Great South Runs. After all this I then celebrated my 60th Birthday with a great trip to London.
As I was training for all these things I realised that there was more I wanted to do, eg to visit the Isle of Wight properly, attempt (probably only once) Stand Up Paddle Boarding, and to see if I dared to abseil again, something I have not done since being a student. Hence I developed a 2023 list of further challenges. Again I manged this set of challenges.
So what of 2024. Well it seems I cant stop the challenges so again am leaving the page open. The year will involve much of the same but I am dreaming about a really really big one, so more news to follow.
5K Your Way and Move remain very important to me as I see the benefits to everyone of moving more. As I am now the East of England Ambassador in addition to being Bedfords 5K Your Way Ambassador it seems sensible to leave my fundraising page open so that if any wishes to sponsor me then it is easy. The total has added to last years total as I find it easier not to change the justgiving page link.
So that is all of my reasoning. Below is what Move say
Being diagnosed with cancer means people face an extremely tough journey. There is so much thrown at you both physically and mentally during treatment and it doesn’t just stop there. MOVE is embarking on a mission to inspire people to #MoveAgainstCancerMOVE provide practical and online support to people living with and beyond cancer.
