Update from the day after!
I did it! I finished in 65min 10sec which is about 5min 11sec longer than I was secretly hoping for when I started training a few months ago - but considering that my ankles were so painful I am trying hard just to be happy that I managed to run the whole way round!
But the most important thing is that, thanks to you all, I have raised over £500 for the Alzheimers Society, which I know will be put to very good use.
Now I just need to get my ankles fixed, and I'll be back again in the future to try to do a decent time!
Thanks so much for you support, it was a massive motivation to me especially on the day.
This page stays open for 3 months after the event, just in case anyone wants to sponsor me retrospectively ;-)
Thanks again,
Jenny

Well, after threatening to do this for a few years now, I have entered the Manchester 10km run on the grand occasion of my 35th birthday on 16th May 2010.
I have chosen to run for the nominated charity, the Alzheimer's society (www.alzheimers.org.uk) - many of us will know someone who is suffering or has suffered from dementia and will know of the devastating consequences for both the sufferer and the caregivers.
The Alzheimer's Society works to improve the standard of care for Alzheimer's patients and their carers and also funds research into the condition, with the aim of increasing our understanding of the disease and ultimately finding a cure. There are over 700,000 people in the UK with Alzheimer's and this is set to rise to over a million by 2025... So please sponsor me if you can - any amount, no matter how small (or big!), will be greatly appreciated.
And it'll force me not to chicken out!!
Thanks so much
Jenny
