Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The idea to wear one dress over 100 days in a row came from an American company who
make simple, sustainably sourced Merino wool dresses. They offered a voucher
for a new dress to the women who completed the challenge. The volunteers were
asked to document how the dress washed and wore over the 100 days. Only 13
women completed the first challenge but many hundreds across the world have
completed it since.
Christian women have accepted the same challenge with a dress they already own.
Their objective to show that we can find contentment with a life of less,
thereby helping to reduce the amount we send to landfill and so help protect
this beautiful God-given planet we call home. We watch the programmes on
climate change, we see the polluted rivers, the ice caps melting and rain
forests dying and we are aware that when we throw away our plastic bag it may
end the life of one of God's creatures.
Challenges are almost always more enjoyable and successful when you have
friends to cheer you along the way or share it with you. Some of our fellow
Christians are using 40 days as their target because of its biblical
significance. I am accepting that challenge of 40 days beginning on June 2nd.
Let's face it, I haven't got to walk 10 miles a day or perform a 100 star jumps
or sail single handed across the Atlantic on a bread board.....it's a
dress....right! If you would like to support me or share the challenge with me
then any money donated will be given to Action For Children.
