Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April this year my older brother (Andy) ran the London Marathon and he inspired me to do the same. In 2005 I trained for the same marathon and, despite months of training, injury prevented me from reaching the starting line. On 22nd April this year I resolved to get to that line and complete the Liverpool Marathon with my brother.
In a cruel twist of fate Andy's journey to the start of the Liverpool Marathon ended only one week ago after weeks of training. An injury will prevent him from running the marathon with me. When I run the Marathon in less than 4 weeks time I will be running it for both of us and I know that he will be with me every step of the way.
This week marks my 14th week of training and with over 370 miles of training under my belt I am starting to believe that I will make it across the finish line. On Friday I completed my longest run to date of 18 miles and at the end I felt great! The complete distance of 26.2 miles is now within my reach.
On Sunday October 14th I will be running the marathon for the Roy Cancer Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of my Nanny Ann and my Auntie Sue who both had their lives cut short due to lung cancer.
I have worked for the charity since January and I have the pleasure and the priveledge of meeting and speaking to some inspirational people who are fighting lung cancer or raising money in memory of loved ones that they have lost to this awful disease. I am inspired every day by their courage, determination and bravery.
Every penny that I raise through sponsorship will go towards finding a cure for lung cancer and providing hope and help for patients and their families.
Any donation that you make will be very gratefully received. And if you cannot donate a cheer from the pavements of the Wirral and Liverpool would be gratefully received on October 14th!
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
