Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
GDA is a brilliant user-led charity supporting more than 4,000 deaf adults and children in and around Gloucestershire each year. In 2019 the organisation celebrates its 100-years anniversary. Staff, trustees and supporters are between us taking on 100 challenges to raise a GDA-record amount of money.
As the charity's CEO, I want to do my bit. So the plan is that on 19th/20th October 2018, I undertake to cycle 100 miles of the 969 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats which a team of us hope to complete within 24 hours. Oh, and just to make it infinitely more exciting, we're going to do it all on exercise bikes!
My taking on such a physical challenge is causing raised eyebrows and wry looks from the office and for good reason. Past attempts have led to a couple of mishaps, including a broken ankle training for my first half marathon three years ago, and a small fracture to my back after falling backwards off a stile on to a tree root whilst out with someone else who was training for GDA's Three Peaks Challenge last year. (Five weeks off work; I wish I was joking.)
Yes, I admit, it's a shaky history, which is why I need as much encouragement as possible to see this latest attempt through to successful completion. Can you spare a donation? Honestly, whatever the amount, large or small, it's going to be a great help. And of course I'll let you know how I get on.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for GDA.
