My story
Hi there! Thanks for visiting our page. We’re going to make the assumption that you’re reading this because you’re about to donate some money, so with this in mind we think it’s best to keep this relatively short and sweet because knowing how bad our craic is, we could quite easily put you off ever speaking to us again, never mind chucking us a cheeky fiver!
In July 2011, we very sadly lost our Dad to pancreatic cancer. He was a great humoured and very generous man with a big heart. Losing him the way we did and seeing cancer first hand like we did has been a real shock to the system and has driven home the importance of raising money, clubbing together and doing what we can to try to prevent this illness from affecting other people in the way it has us
Our family has gone on a bit of a crusade to raise money for Cancer Research since our Dad passed away – luckily he and my Mother have 6 kids so we’re all chipping in and doing our bit! Our sisters have decided to hurl themselves from an aircraft at an altitude of 10,000ft in July with a parachute strapped to their backs – we decided against that on the grounds that it’s not a very green way to raise money (nothing to do with being terrified. At all). There’s also a cake fair being organised that we can’t get involved with, we’re both dedicated athletes - cakes and the like are strictly forbidden from out diets. Finally, a friend of ours is getting a full body wax. Bearing in mind he’s hairier than most large bears, this is going to be quite a treat.
As you’ve probably guessed by now, we’re taking part in the Great North Run on September 16! Neither of us have done this before nor had we considered it before until about 4 days ago, and this morning our places were confirmed by Cancer Research UK, which is great news for all those who want to donate money and have a laugh at the two ‘fittest’ Glover’s make fools of ourselves by trying to out run each other and inevitably being pulled over after 2miles with stitches!
So please donate what you can. It’s for a great cause and we’re running in memory of our Dad who is missed dearly every day.
Thank you so much, Jenny and Dave x x x
