Post Bikeathon update
A Huge Thank You, to all of you who donated so far, especially to those who travelled from afar to our pre-bikeathon party! We made a stunning two hundred and fifty pounds that evening. Thanks so much!
To clarify why we did it? We feel that we owed it to the bikethon team who have organised these events every year to such a high standard and gratefully, no we don't know of any leukaemia or lymphoma sufferers, but just wanted the children to be aware of them.
If you recall, the day was hot and dry! Desert conditions appeared to have arrived in London! An early breakfast, a layer of suncream, padded shorts, helmets and bike stickers and we were off!
I can honestly say that the sun was our enemy number one that day!
OK, so there were a few complaints of over heating and tiredness, but after only three stops for water and a spicy chorizo sandwich, we completed the City course of 26miles at 5.15pm. That was around 5 hours of cycling, after starting at 10.10am.
We can honestly say that without the determination of Vernon, who nearly refused us our mango and passionfruit iced drink during the final hour, we would have probably missed the course marshals completly. It looked as though we were definitely one of the last to finish! Most participants(recommended age for registration was 14yrs) being adults and therefore finishing well before 5pm!
You still have the opportunity to donate for another two months.
To those who have said that you will, here's your chance to do it!
Harvey and Oscar have done a smashing job, so please show your appreciation! Luckily, they were not put off or shaken by the huge London buses and traffic that whizzed by on the roads!
When we asked them the next day how they felt, they said fine! That was not the same for the adults, we are still feeling the pain!
Thank you once more for giving to a deserving cause!

Every year we get on our bikes come rain or shine to join the London Bikeathon to beat leukaemia and lymphoma.
This year we thought that we would make an extra effort and ask for your help as well! Especially as Oscar, one of the youngest participants at 5yrs old, was able to complete the 13 mile ride last year with no problems!
This year at 6yrs of age-he'd like to do the full 26 miles!
Harvey reckons he won't enjoy it, but he has no problems riding through all the puddles when it rains!
Team Geh Bikeathon is ready for action-please give generously for Harvey, Oscar, Vernon and Jenny!
