Story
Love…
Love is why I am taking part in the Cotswold Way Ultra
Challenge where I will walk 53km of 1630m ascent on 24 June 2023.
I enjoy walking but this will push me far out of my comfort
zone into a world of pain but that will be nothing compared to why I am undertaking this ultra-walk.
My 16 year old nephew is strong, handsome, funny, sporty,
competitive (takes after me here!) and is one in a million. Seriously, he is literally one in a million as he has been diagnosed with Spitzoid
melanoma, a (rapidly growing) cancer where only one in a million occurs in adolescents. Surgery was sadly not enough and he started a years’ worth of treatment in January
As an aunt living 170 miles away I am limited to how I am
able to support him and his family. This pains me so I am indirectly
going to provide specific support for him by raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust. A Charity where he and other young persons who hear the words “you have cancer” can receive specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need – so no young person faces cancer alone. Their nurses and youth workers walk with young people from diagnosis through every step of their
treatment, and for up to two years afterwards, so that they can recover and live life to the full.
Please do sponsor me and donate whatever you can spare in
these hard times. My 16 year old nephew and other youngsters with Cancer say
“thank you”
