Story
On Sun 3rd October I will be running the (actual!) London Marathon to raise much needed funds for Alzheimer's Research UK to help find a cure for the diseases that cause Dementia.
Dementia has affected our family, like many others: one in fourteen people over 65 in the UK have dementia. Both my Mum and Guy's Mum have suffered with this terrible disease for several years. Sadly my Mum passed away in December and for the last months of her life she wasn't even able to recognise her own daughters. I will be running in Mum's memory.
The number of people with dementia in the UK is expected to grow rapidly over the next several decades. As age is the biggest risk factor for dementia, increasing life expectancy is the driving force behind this projected rise.
Alzheimer's Research UK's vision is a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
