Story
The North Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team are raising funds to replace their current Incident Control Unit (ICU).The current ICU is an extensively modified IVECO Daily light commercial van which serves as a mobile base during call-outs. The vehicle is equipped with sophisticated electronic equipment which is used to co-ordinate searches and to maintain mobile communication links with operational search teams when on a call-out. It is also used to store vital medical and rescue equipment, as well as providing shelter for exhausted team members and casualties during bad weather. The ICU is now twenty years old and in urgent need of replacement estimated at £65,000!
We need to find this money on top of the £24,000 annually it costs to run the team…and we receive no government funding.
We rely solely on people like you to help us to continue to provide search and rescue services to our local community so please donate if you can!
To tempt you to donate I am attempting the Montane Spine Challenger for the third time…a 108 mile non-stop run (mostly walk!) of the Pennine Way…self supported (carrying food, sleeping bag etc), in January…and I need to do it in less than 60 hours!
