Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London marathon on 23rd April 2023 in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK. This is a cause which is really important to me as in February 2022 my Mum sadly passed away with Alzheimer's disease. (The pictures above are of Mum and myself). As a family we experienced years of the heartbreak and the sense of loss that this cruel disease causes.
I first got my place to run the London marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK in April 2020. After Covid struck and struggles with injury I am finally now getting to do the event in April 2023. This has been a long time coming, with years of preparation and fundraising, so huge thank you to everyone who has supported me so far...as far back as 3 years ago!!
Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. They fund a broad range of research projects to understand dementia and drive towards better diagnosis, preventions and treatments. Their mission is to "bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025”. By running for Alzheimer’s Research UK I am joining the fight for a day where we can all live without the heartbreak and fear that dementia causes to so many families.
Running does not come naturally to me! Every mile I plod through in training (longest training run being a 22miler) as well as the 26.2 miles of the marathon will be a huge challenge. Any donation that you can give as I take on this challenge will be hugely appreciated and will make a massive difference to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
