Save the Children and Lloyds Banking Group are working together to raise £1 million to help the UK’s poorest children fulfil their potential.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Laura and I are participating in the Great Scottish Run 10k for Save The Children.

Despite being the 5th richest country in the world, 1 in 4 children in the UK live in poverty.  The best route out of poverty is through education and the Lloyds Banking Group and Save The Children partnership will make the most incredible difference to thousands of children and their families.

Together we hope to fund 52 ground breaking Families and Schools Together (FAST) projects to support learning and break the cycle of poverty that these children find themselves trapped in.

Money raised through the partnership will enable Save the Children to reach thousands of children living in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK through the Families and Schools Together programme. Here are a few examples of how the money you donate will make a difference:

·         £5 - Will buy a child a book; children that read at home have been shown to do better in school.

·         £10 - Can buy a family a set of educational children's toys. Play stimulates healthy brain growth in children, making learning easier.

·         £35 - Will buy 10 families a meal, shared during a FAST session. Research shows that children who sit down to family meals are more likely to behave better and communicate better as a family.

·         £100 - Could go towards supporting a parent completing the FAST programme to enrol in a local adult education course.

Now its time to start fundraising, so please sponsor us today!
