I support Start Small…. Make a Big Difference and everything they're doing in Nakuru. The lack of opportunity for children to get an education in some countries – lack of funding, lack of facilities, even lack of pencils - creates a permanent cycle of poverty that millions can’t get out of.

But this is a particularly piece of fundraising I'd like to help the charity with. For women, periods usually aren't a choice. As much as I can complain about the atrocious tax on essential sanitary products that women have to pay in the UK, at least I have access to the products and can afford them. For millions of women in other parts of the world they’re not accessible due to the cost. As well as the products themselves, there is also a lot of education around women's health, wellbeing and hygiene that would help them protect and care for their bodies. I think all women should have that opportunity.

Start Small have identified a great reusable sanitary product that only costs £1.50 each, made in Uganda. After piloting with the batch they've been given this year, they want to try and do a big programme next year to provide them across the community, alongside an educational programme on menstrual health and hygiene, sexual health and empowering girls to protect their bodies. This will literally change the lives of young girls.

So this is my fundraising mission for the rest of the year. To try and offer support to women who don't have the privileges I'm lucky enough to benefit from. I hope if you're reading this, that you can help the cause.
