Story

*New target, see my updates :)*

My name is Jennifer Robinson and I’m a specialist midwife in multiple pregnancies at the Liverpool Women's Hospital

I’ve decided to challenge myself to running 5k a day to raise money to buy breast pumps that we can loan out for free, to help support breast feeding and breast milk-giving to multiple birth families.

You currently have to pay to hire out a breast pump in most situations and for multiple birth families that's quite a lot of money to pay out when they often need that money for their babies and family. They're also often unsure of how long they will be able to breast feed for and whether buying the pump is worthwhile.

Being a twin mum myself, and having breast-fed my girls, I was lucky enough to loan my breast pump for as long as I needed it for free, because I’m staff and because my babies went to specialist care. That allowed me to continue to give them breast milk for as long as I did.

I would like to have that form of support for our mums. We had a family recently who was in that situation and I couldn’t get them free breast pumps. That then inspired me to do this.

I’d like to raise as much money as I can to get a good double pumping breast pump. It costs quite a  lot of money, so that’s why I challenged myself to run 5k a day. I only started running in lockdown and it was actually my own twin girls who got me in to that because they love running. I’m normally a 3k twice a week kind of girl, so this is a challenge.

So far I’ve ran from the beginning of February in wind, hail, rain, my trainers smell of pond because they've been wet so many times, but I’m going to carry on going until the end of February, so I'd be grateful for any money that can come in to support our families.
