Story
Just over 3 years ago my Mum was diagnosed with MND and she is inspirational in her approach to dealing with this. Every day she battles to stay on her feet, she’s learning BSL so she can continue communicate with her Grandchildren and she’s determined to continue playing golf even if she can’t complete the whole round.
In honour of her bravery and sheer bloody mindedness, I have signed up to participate in the MND Run 21 Appeal which will see me as a non running proud daughter commit to run (probably more likely to be defined as a jog) a mile a day from the 1st June to the 21st June which is MND Awareness Day.
This has in turn inspired some of the amazing humans in my life to undertake their own challenges too. Hannah is walking a mile a day, Lisa running Leeds 10K, Debi and Bam are covering the distance on horseback and Fiona & Paul after a month of 2000 burpees are running a mile most days in June and I hope a number of them as my support crew.
Alongside the funds raised for MND Association a donation will be made to the Rob Burrows Appeal which is working with Leeds Teaching Hospitals to provide a dedicated MND Centre for patients and their families in Leeds.
