We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My husband and I have chosen Clic Sargent as they we're a great help to Joseph, my Auntie and Uncle during this very difficult time and hopefully we can help others through our fundraising. We just want to help a little.

Joseph's Story - told by his amazing parents.

Our beautiful little boy, Joseph, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in December 2010 after a 2 week history of headaches and vomiting. All of our lives were turned upside down. Joseph underwent surgery, 6 weeks of radiotherapy and 4 cycles of intense chemotherapy with stem cell replacement, finishing treatment in July 2011.

End of treatment scans showed Joseph to be in remission and we got back to living life as 'normally' as we could, however, it was always at the back of our minds that the cancer could return.

In May 2013 we were devastated to find that the cancer had not only returned but had spread into Joseph's brain and spinal column and we were told there was no cure.

Joseph started on oral chemotherapy in an attempt to keep the tumours at bay for as long as possible and to enable us to spend as much quality time together as a family as we could. Joseph fought his battle with such bravery and always with a smile on his face, showing immense courage for someone so young.

Joseph gradually became immobile, robbed of his childhood and ultimately of his life which he had battled so hard to hold on to.

We are so proud of our little boy.

Throughout his treatment, not only was Joseph taken care of by a fantastic team of medical staff from the RVI hospital, but we also received a great deal of suport from the Children's Cancer Charity, Clic Sargent.

We wanted to give a little back and that's why we chose Clic Sargent as the charity for friends and family to make donations to in memory of our brave little boy, Joseph.
