Story
Gran was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years back and is now almost unrecognisable. From a lady brimming with life to having absolutely no acknowledgement of life at all.
It doesn't really need to be stressed how awful Alzheimer's is, not only for the individual but the family and friends around them too. Alzheimer's disease causes two deaths: the mind, then the body. And sadly it is all too common. Mum and I chose to run for Alzheimer's Scotland as they also fund research - hopefully one day there can be a cure for this disease.
With Alzheimer's disproportionately affecting women, and a higher chance of developing the disease when it's in the family, the future may not look overly bright for Mum and I... However, Mum at 70 years old (and with M.E) didn't shy away from the challenge of a half marathon! (And will likely still run it faster than I).
We're looking forward to running this one together in Glasgow and raising some money for an important cause in the process.
