I decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support because cancer research has had a direct impact on my family, as for thousands of others. My much-loved Dad sadly lost his battle against cancer a number of years ago, and recently Mum was also taken from us by this awful illness. In Mum's last few months her brilliant Macmillan nurse, Margaret, was by her side offering positivity, friendship, wisdom and common sense. This valuable support was there just when mum (and all of us) needed it most, and we were all touched and reassured by Margaret's visits.

Macmillan's work is incredibly valuable, in many ways that go far beyond pounds and pence. But now I've seen first hand what a difference the nurses make and the boost and reassurance that Margaret was able to give mum, I'm hoping to raise some funds so that more nurses like her can reach more people who really need that supportive force.
