Fundraising for Marie Curie
The 5th May is the Yarrow River Bluebell 10k Trail Run. It is also the first anniversary of the passing of my wonderful uncle, Dave Dowling.
I’m incredibly lucky to have two fantastic uncles and we lost my Uncle Dave last year, who was one of the loveliest people I have ever known.
Dave lived his life to the fullest and always had a cheery demeanour. My clearest memories of him always involve laughter. He is an inspiration to enjoy all that life can offer us and take joy in the small things, for they are the richest. He was an admirable father to my two strong, amazing cousins and a fabulous grandfather. Dave taught me that the greatest gifts in life are our children and our family. He told me that cherishing my daughter would be the best thing I could ever do. He is missed by so many.
Dave was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2018 and Marie Curie were a superb support to my uncle and his family.
Myself and Jonathan would like to dedicate this Trail Run to my Uncle Dave and my cousin’s have said that Marie Curie were brilliant during the last few months of my uncle’s life.
The diagnosis of terminal cancer is never going to be easy to process but charities like Marie Curie are such an invaluable support to those dealing with terminal illnesses and their family during an incredibly difficult time. Marie Curie provide high-quality palliative and end of life care and support for people living with a terminal illness and their families.
