Story
I am so very grateful to everyone who has given support, sleeping out was much easier knowing there were so many good wishes and generous donations. We were also really lucky the rain held off till the morning. I heard some heart rending stories from young people who ended up homeless and also from a young carer whose life was made easier with an Action for Children Project. I also shared the night with some wonderful people. One group were from a small company manufacturing pet foods, two of the company members had raised money by eating dog food for two weeks, in shepherd's pie, curry, chili, or just with gravy. I guess they believed in their product, but it was one of the more interesting ways to raise money.
I am now home. Hurrah! After sleeping in my clothes, it is nice to take a shower and change. I will catch up on sleep over the weekend and spend time with my family and friends. I am aware though of others, sleeping out alone, who woke up and felt lucky that nothing terrible had happened to them. For them when they wake from their disturbed watchful sleep, there is no chance of a shower or a change of clothes or family to share ones time with, day after day they will face the same difficulties until they find help. It is your support that will make a difference. The money you have generously given will go to Action for Children and their work with vulnerable young people. The charity’s critical work, helps prevent the tragedy of homelessness, by tackling the issues that can lead to young people ending up on the streets. For those who are sleeping rough, they have many projects to help find shelter and give support and guidance,
