Story
I'm taking on the Super 60 this World Autism Acceptance Week to help change attitudes, to transform lives and create a society that works for autistic people.
My daughter is autistic and everyday I see how the world is not set up to make life easy. Getting a diagnosis is hard. Getting support afterwards is hard. You basically get a photocopied list of charities that work for children or adults that are autistic. That is it. All of my knowledge and practical strategies are gleaned from charities and the training they provide.
I want to improve life for all autistic children and have a strong voice that can argue for them. One of the best ways I can help is to raise funds for the National Autistic Society.
I did the event last year and it was tough but you cannot go backwards so I have decided to complete a 60k Triathlon over the week. I will swim 60k, walk / run 60k and cycle 60k. I am most nervous of how long I will spend in the pool and how much of a prune I will be at the end of it.
Wish me luck as I will need it!
