Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In late August this year, I will be trekking the Great Wall of China for 8 days in aid of Dementia UK. The donations will help sufferers, support families and raise awareness for Dementia. This will be a physical challenge but the money raised will go to an amazing charity. Any amount donated is greatly appreciated.
The trek will total around 120 miles, which will take us over several different parts of the wall, all built in different dynasties. The trek starts at the 'Old Dragon's Head' where the wall rises out of the sea. The first day of trekking starts by hacking a pathway through the dense jungle growing into the wall before taking on some of the unrestored parts of the wall. Next up are the mountains of the Great wall and the Chiou Tower built by the historic Ming Dynasty over 600 years ago. Day 4 will be the most challenging day climbing 'Heaven's Ladder', the top isn't visible from the bottom due to it being so steep! Next, we will walk along the moon-shaped Huanghuacheng reservoir then climbing to the highest watch tower, then trekking along more of the wall which has been untouched since its construction several centuries ago.The penultimate day will bring us along some of the most beautiful scenery the wall has to offer as we trek up the iconic 'Nine-Eye Tower'. The final day will bring us along the Mutainyu, where the Great Wall finishes.
