Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi Everyone,
I am taking part in the 9 mile walk in rememberance of my granny.
On 1st October 2011 we were told that granny had cancer, at the same time we were told there was nothing could be done to cure her. She had stage 4 lung cancer which had spread throughout her body. She took the news with a smile and told everyone else that it was going to be okay. She prepared us all one by one so that we would be ready to live on without her.
She was a character with such a great sense of wit and humour. We watched her fade day by day but we never heard her complain. My granny was taken into The Macmillan Unit in Antrim were she spent her final 48hours. The staff within the unit were nothing less than angels. The facilities were of the highest standard and the support for both my granny and the entire family was flawless.
I held her hand as she peacefully passed away on 10th January 2012.
I would like to show my eternal gratitude to Macmillan and raise as much money as possible so that everyone who has to go through losing a loved one to cancer can appreciate every last minute they have!!! Whilst knowing that the staff are highly skilled experienced and doing everything they can to ensure your loved ones comfort.
