Ysbyty Gwynedd's new Bereavement Suite

Fundraising for Awyr Las Gogledd Cymru - Blue Sky North Wales
£1,605
raised of £1,000 target
In memory of Aaliyah Hughes
The Bereavement Team at Ysbyty Gwynedd are aiming to create a more comfortable bereavement suite for families who have sadly lost their babies due to stillbirth or neonatal death.

Story

On the 7/8th July 2023, I will be spending 24 hours on my paddleboard on Llyn Padarn, to raise money to improve the facilities available to bereaved parents in Ysbyty Gwynedd. The redevelopment of the current angel room will ensure families across the health board have access to the same or similar facilities. While on the lake, I will be reflecting on the last 3 years of studying to become a midwife, which stemmed from my experience of the wonderful care we received when our beautiful daughter Aaliyah was stillborn at YG. The current angel room will always hold a special place in our hearts, however it is located on the Maternity Outpatient Assessment Unit, where you can hear expectant families having scans and newborn babies crying.

£15000 is needed to develop the new suite, which will include a wet room and kitchenette. Most importantly, it will be located in a quieter area, away from the busy maternity unit, ensuring privacy and peace. Please help me to help families spend precious time with their baby.  The new suite will ensure bereaved families are cared for in the best possible environment. Please donate anything you can. Thank you xx
