Story
Several years ago I pledged to grow my hair as long as I could and donate it to the Little Princess Trust when I stopped needing operations of my own, so that something good could come from my seemingly endless battle with cholesteatomas.
Over the past 13 years I’ve had various parts of my head shaved to facilitate surgeries to remove benign tumours from my middle ear(s), each one leaving me a little bit more deaf, with a little bit more of a ‘tufty’ head of hair. And now, four mastoidectomies plus various other procedures later, I’m as close to having the all clear as I’m ever likely to be.
9 months since my last surgery, my shortest ‘tuft’ is long enough for a bob (hurray!) so in the interest of creating something positive from something negative, I’ll be chopping the rest of it off all at once and donating it to be made into a wig for a child who has also lost their hair through illness. Any and all donations towards the cost of making the wig and putting a huge smile on an unwell child’s face will be hugely appreciated!
When a child loses their hair to cancer or another condition, we'll be there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity. We won't stop until the research that we fund ends childhood cancer forever. Promise. Please visit us at www.littleprincesses.org.uk to find out how you can help us give young people back what cancer takes away. The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers. We receive no formal funding. Please help to raise money for us so that we can help more families.
