Story
Recently one of the strongest ladies I know was helped by this charity while receiving her treatment in Aberdeen, she spent a long time on her own with no visitors in complete isolation in a room and she said they were so special to her,
“Friends of anchor provided the WIFI package to my room, free on line magazines, new mattress and chair cushion, a goody bag with eye mask/pillow spray n other bits, a lovely auxillary nurse her post was funded by anchor and she would organise washing for me and anything i needed even shopping for my crisps and coming to have a chat. That is just a wee selection of how it made a difference to me they may seem little things but they meant so much ⚓”
She has decided to try to raise as much as she can for them as they were so good but they have a huge goal ahead of them! So I decided to help.. I am running the EDINBURGH MARATHON Sunday 29th May!
Our biggest campaign to date, the target is to raise £2m for The ANCHOR Centre which is due to open in late 2021. A brand new, purpose-built facility that will bring together all oncology and haematology out and day patient services.Whilst the Scottish Government is investing £32m, we need to raise the additional £2m needed to make this new Centre, the first of its kind in Scotland, a reality. Friends of ANCHORs contribution will look to deliver the difference for this generation and the generations to come who will walk through the Centres doors that is currently estimated at 65,000 a year. This is an incredibly exciting, and certainly ambitious campaign for Friends of ANCHOR in terms of the funding weve further committed to North-east cancer and haematology care - we hope you will join us in uniting together to bring Friends of ANCHOR a significant step closer to reaching that £2m target!
